‘Zizi’
Ottawa artist Soraya Silvestri practices bold abstract, landscapes and seascape paintings. Characterized by vibrant pops of colour, pattern and complex compositions, Soraya's work explores the emotions evoked by nature. A painting with a cloudy sky, a storm breaking, or mountain peaks evoke the abundance of emotion and energy found in the natural world.
“I try to paint the feeling of being very small in the world. The power of nature is full of wonder and awe. It is both beautiful and dramatically fierce. When my paintings succeed in depicting this feeling, I am at once reminded of that sense of smallness.”

I found a deep connection to abstract paintings and later I delved into landscapes and seascapes. I love how each painting can be interpreted in many ways. It all depends on the viewer and their emotional connection to my work.
